Auto Age magazine was initially set to be published six times a year in a large format. For 1953 there would be six issues, but in 1954 just four issues were published. 1955 saw five issues and there were seven issues printed in 1956 with the final issue being the August publication (there was no July issue). The publisher was Martin Goodman, and the first editor was Larry T Shaw. Goodman stopped self-publishing and distribution the magazine in 1956, when he switched distribution to American News Company (ANC) who requested he drop this title as it already managed several other automotive titles. Goodman only had a hand in this one automotive title. There is minimal information about Auto Age publication volumes. The publisher only submitted data one year – in 1955. In that one year, it ranked #3 among automotive titles that provided circulation details and reported 33,300 average monthly print numbers.
